Outrage over quip made during interview following Italy's worst earthquake in three decades.
Italy's prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, is reported to have said the 17,000 people made homeless by Monday's earthquake should think of themselves as being on a "camping weekend".
The website of the German television news channel N-TV said he had made the quip while being interviewed by one of its reporters on a visit to one of the emergency camps set up to take those who lost their homes in the disaster.
I guess a huge flood would be an opportunity to boat or swim, and a tornado would be a chance to see how far your dog could fly.
And drought a chance to catch a killer tan!!
reminds me of barbara bush saying about the katrina victims "camping out, for free" in the superdome, i may be quoting but am likely paraphrasing "many of these people were underprivileged to begin with, so this is actually working out quite well for them."
people died, barbara.
Berlusconi is the Italian word for Bush.

Oh yeah, that's a compassionate and reasonable thing to say.
In case you can't tell such things through the internet, I am being extremely sarcastic.
